Marelli to introduce temporary operational measures across Europe in response to Covid-19

19 March, 2020

Throughout this week, across Europe, we have seen the continued escalation of measures being introduced to best protect people, communities and economies from the impact of Covid-19. At Marelli, we have continued to place the highest priority on ensuring the health and safety of employees, while maintaining our operations to support customers around the world.

In recent weeks across our global business, Marelli has implemented a series of measures in line with government and health authority recommendations to battle the spread of COVID-19. This has included the introduction of smart working, increasing communications around health, safety and hygiene, increasing sanitization of our plants and offices and travel restrictions. In the last week across Europe, we have continued to adapt these procedures to best support our people, customers and communities.

Due to the increasing severity of this situation, however, many of our customers have taken the difficult decision to suspend production in Europe. In light of the reduction in customer demand, the acceleration of government lock downs across Europe, and in order to ensure the ongoing protection of our workforce, Marelli is temporarily suspending production activities in the majority of its European plants. Starting immediately, production will stop for the next week, except for a number of local cases where operations will continue on a reduced scale, in line with specific customers’ needs. We are in ongoing dialogue with employees and customers on these changes and we maintain the flexibility to have plants fully operational again, in line with health and safety requirements and customer demand.

All facilities across Europe are being constantly monitored and we won’t hesitate to act further should we need to.
